A unique and beloved villa with sensational views of Salema

We are so thrilled to be offering this charming, quirky and much loved second home in Salema which is also one of our most 'eco friendly' properties. Salema is virtually fossil fuel free with solar electricity, hot water and solar pool heating. There is also additional electric heating for the pool at an addtional cost for the cooler months.

Vista Salema has been in the owner's family for over 50 years and the cherished property exudes happy memories and enjoys breathtaking views of the pretty fishing village and the sparkling sea beyond.  It is situated on a hill which allows for the generous views and the area is part of the National Park. The property is surrounded by established plants, shrubs and succulents and is very peaceful.

Vista Salema is traditional in style with Portuguese tiles, wooden furniture and comfortable sofas around a cosy fireplace surrounded by a colourful collection of books, paintings, plates and ornaments.

The kitchen is in a country style with wooden cabinets and pretty tiles and is extremely well equipped with everything you could need including some additional perks like a wine fridge, Kenwood hand mixer and coffee machine.  

The bedrooms are furnished in the same unique style with splashes of colour and personal touches and all have high-quality mattresses.  The master bedroom is on the first floor and is reached by a staircase with a rope instead of a bannister so care should be taken. The owners can provide a stairgate for extra reassurance. This bedroom has doors that lead out to a terrace overlooking the pool area and the spectacular views of Salema.

Outside there is a delightful terrace with an electric awning.  There is both a comfortable seating area for relaxing and reading a book or enjoying a drink, and outside dining furniture for alfresco dining while making the most of the stunning views. The pool area is reached by a few steps from the terrace and is gated for additional reassurance with little ones, although care should always be taken of course.  

Just a 5 minute walk to the beach and various restaurants, this is an ideal choice for those who prefer to wander out for dinner in the evenings. The long stretch of beach is generally quieter than some of the other popular beaches in the Algarve with a real sense of relaxation and calm. It is worth noting that the walk back is a little more strenuous than the walk down, due to the elevated position, but perfectly manageable for most people.

Vista Salema also has heating in the bedrooms, a cosy fireplace in the living room and double glazing making this an excellent choice for out of season holidays.

"There is a real sense of calm here and the beach is natural and unspoilt which is very special. The restaurants are also fabulous, especially if you enjoy seafood."

Things to Be Aware of

"It is about 100km from the airport so a slightly longer journey. It is well worth the extra few minutes though as you are rewarded with a relaxed vibe and less tourists."

Additional costs & information

  • Electric Pool Heating £231 per week. Minimum charge 1 week (Solar pool heating is usually sufficient in the summer season) 
  • Extra bed for a child £133 per week
  • 1 week minimum rental from May - August.  5 nights at all other times
  • Strictly no caravans, tents or mobile homes authorised to park in the grounds of the villa without prior permission
  • No pets allowed at this villa
  • Although the villa has a flexible arrival day outside of high season, we cannot leave too many empty days between bookings. Please always check with us to make sure the dates you require are acceptable.  
  • Booking deposit 30% of the villa rental.  Balance due 8 weeks before departure.
  • Please note that we cannot guarantee the pool temperature. In general, pool heaters are installed and managed according to the size of the pool and health and safety guidelines but weather conditions, such as colder nights, rain and strong winds can affect the normally achievable temperature.
